Re: which form to use

It's not as simple as just filing a form. You have prepare a petition, deal with an acknowledgement of service, prepare the settlement agreement and then know how to present your case in court. You should at least consult with a local attorney.

Re: which form to use

There is no "form", and only two of Georgia's 159 counties will supply you with any paperwork at all. Even those two recommend that you have a lawyer review your papers before filing, and they will not assist you in how to complete paperwork.

If you have an uncontested case, the legal fees in most metro Atlanta counties we handle range from $99 to $415 depending on the county, whether you have children, and whether there are assets and debts, so there is little reason to chance doing it without counsel and messing it up.

If you do elect to do it alone, at least have a lawyer review the forms (or draft the forms) you need. The fees for that are very small.

Please call us at 404-768-3509 if we can assist you.
