Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Formal name change with marriage

I am taking my husband's last name officially (changing SS card at least) as my last name, but keeping my maiden name as my middle name. Is it lawful to refer to myself as Jane Maidenname after I take my husband's last name? Or am I forever left with Jane Maidenname Marriedname? Is it lawful to go by two names, where one is just omitting a last name?

Re: Formal name change with marriage

It is not illegal to use an alias as long as it is not used to cheat or defraud people, but it may cause confusion when the name you use doesn't match legal documents you have.
