Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
A friend has custody of her three granddaughters. The middle grandchild is 13 and has been treated and in treatment centers for violent behavior, and a disorder that causes a failure to bond that creates a lack of respect for human life. The grandparent and other children in the home are afraid from her violent outbursts that she will kill them in their sleep. The child was recently arrested for trying to hire a classmate to kill someone for her and she the money on her person. She also had a knife and threatened to kill another child on the school bus. She is currently being held in jail but they want to release her back to the grandmother with probation. The DFACS worker told the grandmother if she refuses to take her back in the home they will charge her with neglect and abandonment. Is this true? Is there a way for her to give up her custody of this child?

No one here knows as no one has seen her custody papers. Presumably she had a lawyer to get custody and that is the person whom she should call.
