Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

GA divorce process

In the state of Georgia how do I file for my divorce myself? I know I file with the superior court and pay a $65.00 filing fee in my county, but what do I do after that? This is a non contested divorce and do not want to spend a lot of money. No child issues or property issues. We both agree the divorce is the best thing. He already has all his property and I have mine. Can I file with the court, pay a filing fee and the judge handle the rest? Please help!

Re: GA divorce process

First of all make sure that the petition is complete. You can obtain a divorce packet from the Fulton County Family Law Division or the Dekalb County Family Law Division. These forms can be completed and filed in the proper court. The forms take you step by step through the process and explains the entire procedure for procuring your divorce. If you are doing this own your own, please make sure you obtain this packet. The cost of the packet is only $2.00. The packet can also be downloaded free of charge from the Fulton County Superior Court website.

GOOD LUCK!!!
