Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
georgia divorce
currently wanting to start the divorce process. I have a child I pay $1200 a month for with another woman (before my wife). This is not court ordered but just an arrangement we have. I make $5200 a month and I found this to be the amount Georgia would probably require me to pay, and I do so freely.
My wife (not the mother of my child) and I are currently separated. Habitual drunk, openly mean to my daughter, a leech in all manner of the word. I kicked her out, now she's threatening a ''legal separation'' and ''temporary aid'' and says she does not care if this takes money away from my daughter's child support. I do not feel that she deserves anything from me as she was drunk all the time and mean to me and my child. What should I do? Should I hurry and make my child support arrangement legal before this goes any further? How can I protect myself and my assets? I am so scared that because I am a man and she is a woman she is just going to undeservedly get my money. What do I do? How much will this cost?

Before you rush out and do anything, you should consult with a local attorney about your rights and the procedure. A "legal separation" and "temporary aid" she mentions are nothing out of the ordinary. A legal separation (also known as separate maintenance) is almost identical to a divorce. Your attorney can explain the difference.
There is no way to tell you the outcome of your case in this type of forum; that would be utter guesswork. Get a lawyer.

I would need far more detail to figure out exact costs, but if you and the woman you are paying money to now are agreeable, it can be relatively inexpensive and quick to formalize your arrangements. Call my office to discuss those details and I can probably give you a specific cost.
