Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Hello ! My girlfriend had a issue before I came along over the fact that her baby sitter was abusing her kids and threatening them that if they told there mom he was gonna kill them so once she found out she called the police a detective came out the oldest daughter told the detective what happened and that the guy threatened them thel daughter even presented a video she had recorded but the detected said the video seem like it was fun and playing so he wrote down that the mother had abused the kids and now she got arrested but is out on bond and they're trying to get her to plead guilty and the detective is a witness in the case now but the babysitter who down ass the culprit is free is that legal and what steps can we take because that's not right?? Thanks
