Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Good Morning,
I recently lost my job due to a layoff. My two-year-old's father had me served with child support modification papers about 6 weeks before my layoff (he knew about the impending layoff). I wish to go to school/find other employment. I still need child care to look for another job/go to school. What is the likelihood that a judge will reduce my child support when my only income (besides child support) is unemployment, which only pays about $1420 per month? He has two jobs. We have never been married, child is not legitimized, but father signed birth certificate. We were just in court last year for the initial child support order.

No one can predict what a judge will do, even with far more facts than you posted. It is easy however to predict that you will usually do worse without a lawyer than with one.
