Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

grandparents visitations

My son and his wife are separated. She asked him to leave the home. Since my grandchild was born till app 2 years ago I had my grandchild with me practically every weekend. Now my daughter in law refuses to let me see the child. What rights to do I have as a grandparent?

Re: grandparents visitations

You should file a petition for visitation with your grandchild. In Georgia, a grandparent is entitled to visit with the grandchild upon a showing that it would be in the child's best interest. Contact a local attorney for assistance.

Because this matter is of such importance, you should contact a local attorney familiar with this area of the law. Grandparents do have certain rights. You might take a look at O.C.G.A. Sec. 19-7-3.
