Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Hello,
My husband has been divorced for several years. His daughter is graduating this month and she is 18 so June was the last child support payment. His Ex-wife just called and says she is going to her attorney to see if she can make us pay for college for his 18 year old child. There is nothing in the divorce papers that says he has to pay for college only child support through college. Can he be forced to pay for college since she is 18 and graduated?
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Lisa McCoy

A court cannot mandate money for college unless it was in the original court order. She's shooting her mouth and you can ignore her words. If she does something stupid and files a case, he likely can sue her for attorneys fees for frivolous litigation.
