Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Can I keep the home and the car?

My boyfriend and I moved in together. He assaulted me and my toddler and was arrest. I filed a TPO which granted me temp. stay in the home and use of the vehicle. I am 3 mos pregnant. The lease is in his name, but I pd all fees to move in and eveything in the home is mine. He gave me a car as a gift without stipulations (he pays the note). We are due in court in two weeks. What are my chances of keeping the car and the home?

If he signed over title to a car, you own it. If he didn't then you don't own it.

You can't be awarded a house if you lease it (as someone else owns it).

Short-term with a TPO, you might get use of either, but the TPO is temporary, and since Georgia has no palimony, you can't actually win anything you don't own.

What you certainly will have later is a child support claim.
