House Ownership - Community Property

I have a habitat for humanity home..I will be signing the mortgage paperwork soon ''myself'' only but will be married by the time I do this. In the event of a divorce, would I be required to sell the house and give him half?

In the event of a divorce, I can't imagine any judge ordering you to sell the house and give him anything. However, to be safe, consult with a local attorney about, e.g., a prenuptial agreement.

Property acquired during the marriage is marital property and can be divided by a court. A division, if it happens, may or may not be 50-50. If this concerns you, consult a lawyer about a prenuptial agreement (which might protect a home) before you marry. My office does handle those.
