Get what back? People who co-sign generally don't get anything. They guarantee the payment of the loan when the primary borrower has a credit problem. It is almost always a bad idea.

Get what back? Unless he also is on the title he has nothing to get.
Co-signers don't usually own anything. A co-signer is the one who usually gets stuck with the debt, and has nothing to show for it (which is why people should never cosign anything they don't expect to actually pay).
Lenders require cosigners because they already know the borrower is unlikely to pay.
