Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Husband in Florida, I'm in Georgia. Where should I file for divorce?

My sister has separated from her husband and wants a divorce. She has recently relocated to Georgia from Florida. He still resides in Florida. Should she initiate her divorce in Georgia or Florida? They have already divided their assets including sale of their home and divided the proceeds from the sale. He agrees to the divorce.

She can file in Georgia once she has lived here six months. Court filing fees are FAR cheaper in Georgia than Florida (around $80 versus several hundred dollars). If she is in metro Atlanta or near Atlanta our office may be able to help. In some counties the legal fees are as low as $99 where there is nothing left to divide, no children, and he signs. Cobb County makes sense if she's been here the 6 mos. required to for residency. Contact me and we can quote a fee for an uncontested. Assume there are no children.
