Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Is my husband responsible for paying for the gas, food and lodging incurred by his ex wife during his visitation exchange? We live in GA and she lives in OH. The following is what the court document states, and I am a little confused, it can be taken 2 different ways.
The father shall be responsible for transportation of the child for all visitation periods. HOWEVER, if either party moves a distance of 100 miles or more from the other parent, there shall be a meeting place mutually agreed up by both parties for exchanging the child, to and from the husbands visiation.
Transportation costs, if any, will be allocated as follows:
Parent responsible for transportation of the child incurs the costs.
When I read this I understand it to say that the parent that has the child is responsible for the costs until the exchange is made and at that time, the other parent is then responsible for any costs incurred regarding the child. Or is the father in fact responsible for the costs from the time the mother leaves home to meet with the father for exchange? Also, if he is in fact responsible, does this include paying for food purchased along the way, and to stay in a hotel overnight? She always stays in a room with a Jacuzzi and that has an indoor heated pool, and always brings friends along. Is lodging considered part of transportation costs? We always leave the morning of exchange and come home the same day. It only takes about 3.5 hours to reach the meeting spot. 309.5 miles for each of us. Can you clarify this for me? She is trying to say that he must pay her back for everything. Doesn't transportation (if he is in fact responsible) mean transporting, not food and lodging?

Appears, at first blush, each parent responsible for costs while they transporting child to and from meeting place Father not responsible for ex-wife's expenses to transport child to meeting place.
You can file motion with divorce court asking for clarification and mention how ex-wife abusing cost issue
Good luck
