Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My husband is terribly verbally abusive ALL THE TIME. I want a divorce but, have only a disability income of $1031.00 a month.Since there is about 25 years of property i.e., house, vehicle, furnishings, etc I need advice on how to go about filing and legally seperating so as not to loose my share of our lifes assets. thank you
