Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

insurance card

I got a divorce and got married again this year. My ex and me have shared joint legal and physical custody. I have to provide insurance with my ex paying half for our baby. We are under my new husbands policy. I don't want to give my ex a insurance card because he can go to the baby's doctor. He said he may need one if he's in another town or something. Can't he go to the baby's doctor. Do I have to give him one? He said he would get his own insurance on the baby. Can he do that?

Re: insurance card

I don't know if you HAVE to, that would depend on the wordings in the divorce papers.

If it was me, I would share it with him, since he is the father and might have to take the child to the emergency room, or another doctor.

If he takes it to court and tries to hold you in contempt, I believe that the Judge would agree with me, but again, it depends on what the papers say. And, if he wants to buy insurance for the baby he can. I urge you to try and work together for the baby's sake.
