Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I have joint custody with my son's father. It was filed originally in NY state. He agreed to get out of paying me child support. We agreed to the terms via a mediator. Part of the agreement was that my son would live with his father during non-work times and when he is away my son will stay with his mother. She has been the cause of a lot of dissention between my son's father and I trying to be amicable. At times I was not able to speak to my son because of her. She has been very childish in the matter making the situation no better. And when I try to communicate my dismay to my son's father, he simply disregard what I am telling him. He choses her side over mines always. I have been going through this situation for a few years. Fast foward to know my son is a teenager now and he tells me what goes on as far as how he is treated by his grandmother. And recently we had a verbal altercation in front of my child all because she was upset with him for lack of communication to her while he was in my care. She approached him yelling and berating him in public and I stepped in because I thought she was going to hit him. She jumped in my face and proceeds to tell me to mind my business while I had my toddler in my hands. My son was scared and reduced to tears. She then continues to scream in my face and screaming she was his mother and that I abandoned my child and she then yelled to my son that she was not going to escort him to see me anymore. I am asking if I can file a modification because after her display of anger towards my son and I; I am convinced that she is verbally and physically abusing him. And his father just lets it happen. My case was an interstae case and I have moved to the state where my son's father was. They both tried to stop me from seeing and talking to my child. And when I do have that chance they pull stunts like this. All because I initially to him to court to get visitations and child support documented because he and I could not agree on the terms because of his mothet meddling. She ecen tried to ask the judge could she speak on het son's behalf while he was in coury just to belittle me and the judge barred her from speaking because she indeed did not make the situation better. My son has told me that he has been hit and I asked his father what the situation and he simply stated that our son lies a lot. So simply it is his word against mine. I want to protect my son and I am hurting because I do not know wgat to do. His father makes more than I and he uses that against me saying that I am unfit and they both told my son that my family and I did not want him. So his spirit is broken. I agreed for my son to live with his father so he can have a better education a nd living environment and also to have a relationship with his father. But I feel like I made a big mistake about loving my son so much that I had to take his father to court in the first place so he can have a relationship with his son. Please help me.
