Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

judges decree

I have filed for my divorce and I was told before i come to court i am to have a judges decree and i do not even know what that is and how to type it out or fix it up. i am the one that typed and filed my divorce on my own but, do not know how to do a judges decree and i need to have it by february 1st. so if you could send me a sample of a judges decree it would be very much appreciated or where can i go to get one.

There are no "forms" that are guaranteed to accomplish what you want in every case. Each one has to be tailored to the individual case. Good luck in attempting to be your own lawyer.

As you have found, you should not be your own lawyer unless you actually know what you're doing. If you can't do one of the more basic forms (the final decree) you may have messed up other steps. This is a very good time to see a lawyer, have him review what you have done, and let him help you.

In most counties, you do the decree 31 days after filing if uncontested, so I am not sure why you are waiting for Feb. 1st. Your post has too little information to address that.

Note that while there are forms for decrees (and what you need varies by county), what should be in there may include things not in a standard form, especially if you have children, assets or debts.
