my child support was based on my income of $2000.00 a month,set at $450.00. i have never been late or behind w/support,however things were getting tight lately. not working/ unemployment for 5mths now. went for modification the other day cause i am just earning $1000.oo mth now! through unemployment. having a 50% cut i thought the judge would understand until my work picks up, im work constuction by the way. the childs mother showed up with an attorney in which i had talk with back 6mths earlier to represent me against the mother. they protested along with the judge all calling me a deadbeat and saying its just a measly 500.00, couldnt believe this, i have never been behind or late before and have stuggled to meet my requirements these last 5mths. there getting 50% the all laughed and are asking for an additional 300,00 mth for day care for the grandmother supposovely? $1000-800.00, hell thats 80% how can they do this?is this attorney allowed to rep the mother if she talk to me 6mths ago. waitting to go back n front of the jugde who laughed at me last wk, to see if she gets the 300

Surely your lawyer told you that Judges are generally NOT going to slash child support based on a temporary change like unemployment, as you'd get a windfall when you returned to work. Additionally you have to show that the children's needs have changed to make out a strong case. Judges hate cases like yours as you forced the mother, who needs your support, to spend precious fuinds on legal fees to defend your case. Next time I'd suggest listening to your lawyer.
