Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Do I really need a lawyer?

My cs case is being handled by the DA's office in OR. GA DA's office has requested that I not contact them directly.

I am trying to recover 4 yrs of past support. My ex is claiming that he should not be responsible due to the fact that she was a runaway and had some legal issues at 16. She was charged as an adult but still treated as a juvenile and I was still required to attend all meetings concerning this.

He has retained a lawyer to get him out of paying all past support due. Is there a chance using these reasons the court would decided he is not responsible? I tried to contact a lawyer in OR but was told I needed to talk to a lawyer in GA.

While a judge may cut him some slack if the daughter has been gone for 4 years, I can't see any judge totally letting him off the hook. The c.s. is to be used by the custodial parent to maintain the roof over your head as well as to pay for the daughter's specific financial needs.
