Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I left Va in 2008 and gave my mother a power of attorney (for temporary custody). I just got the P.O.A. revoked today. Well I just found out that she went to a court and filled the papers to take me to court for custody. Since all her legal rights over my son is terminated can I still go and get him? She claims that she can show the police those papers, but they do not give her any custody over him and the police will allow her to keep him. Even though I have a legal document revoking her rights, I need to know whether I can go get him.

You can't change custody by power of attorney and nothing else you posted makes any sense. It sounds like you have created a huge mess by attempting to do something that you should never do - address custody issues without a lawyer.

At this point you need to hire a lawyer in Virginia to review the mess you have created, review what your mother has filed (which probably matters a great deal), and no, you should not risk jail or other adverse consequences without counsel (most court cases prevent self-help, so jail is a real possibility).
