Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Legal Name Change
My step-daughter (22 years old) filed the petition three weeks ago to change her last name and placed the add in the newspaper right after. She found out today from the court that they are going to drop the case because she is missing information. No one will tell her what she is missing. Please Help.

Re: Legal Name Change
If you are talking about it being the clerk's office who won't give her any info, that is because they are not supposed to give legal advice. She should consult with a local attorney. It shouldn't cost much for an attorney to review the paperwork.
Re: Legal Name Change
We would need to see exactly what she filed to be able to advise you, but could likely fix it for a fairly nominal fee. Have her contact iour office if she is interested. Time is posibly very important depending on the court.
