Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
My legal Rights to Assets acquired during the marraige
My husband and I acquired a home together at the end of Dec 12/98, However my name is not on the title (or)the mortage and we didn't get married until 10/25/01, I left my husband at the end of 10/03 because of mental anguish ,and no communication, we have No children together, and I left him everything, I only left with my car, a bed , a tv, my sofa's and my (2)cat's. I tried to reason with him to give me 1/2 of the equity from the house, but he said since I left him I'm not entitled to anything, and he refuses to sell (or) give me monies from the house, because he said my name is not on the house (or)mortgage. He has a current IRS lien on the property as well for about ($16,000.00) he's 14 year's older than me, and extremly scorned & bitter, and refuses to take (or) respond to my call's. He knows I can't afford an attorney, I currently live in a apartment, struggling to make ends meet. ''What are my legal Rights ?''

Re: My legal Rights to Assets acquired during the marraige
Many individuals who are ending their marital union find themselves in circumstances similar to yours. Your best chance to get a fair division of assets is by employing an attorney. However, no attorney can assess your options without talking to you. Please contact me if you would like more details about obtaining legal representation.
