Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

legal separation or divorce during an adoption.

I am in the process of adopting. My daughter has been with us for almost 15 mos and the adoption is in its final process. My husband walked out on the entire family and is talking divorce or legal separation and refuses to sign the final adoption papers now. What can I do?? I dont wanna loose our little girl. Please help all advise is appreciated.

please consult a domestic relations lawyer that specializs in adoption asap.....he may be out but you may still be able to adopt....

Since there's just about no way to do an adoption without a lawyer, I assume you have one. He may now have a conflict, so you and your husband now need separate adoption lawyers. It may be possible to amend the petition IF a divorce occurs so that just one of you adopts, but if you stay married, under Georgia law, the two of you must act together.
