Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
I lived in Alaska for 4 years. During that time I received threats from my ex saying he was going to kill me as take my children. My "parents" talked me into giving them custody of my two children. When the paper work was signed things went down hill fast between my "mother" and I.
I was about to file paper work with the Ak court to change custody back to me, when my step father told me that he got his military orders to move back to Georgia. He asked me to wait until we all got back to GA before filing. So I did.
I filed in Ga with in 2 weeks of being there. The case was dismissed due to lack of jurisdiction.
I re-filed with the Alaska courts less than a month later. (right after the paperwork was signed by the GA Judge that the case was dismissed)
I have been in court in Alaska for 7 months now. I have a trial set in August. I've spent $14,000 on my attorney.
I am being told now that Jurisdiction may be moved back to GA since my children have lived there for 6 months.
How is this possible?? How in the middle of everything can a Judge say, sorry, take this to a different state?

That is a question for your lawyer in Alaska - you should discuss your case with him or her and not an internet forum (with lawyers who know nothing about what you were told, by whom, etc.). If the case is going to be dismissed, get a Georgia lawyer.
There is no way to answer a question like this without seeing the pleadings and getting very detailed information. You say you have a lawyer. he does know the answer and you should be asking him.
