Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

how long is an ex parte custody order good for in georgia? my ex wife has been withholding custody/ visitation for almost a year because of an ex parte order she got suspending visitation based on a false accusation of a burglary charge and when I call the police they just say there is nothing they can do b/c of the ex parte order. If I go back to court she says she'll ask for supervised visitation (with no grounds other than that she doesn't like my new wife) and throw me in jail b/c I have lost my job and cant afford the child support payments... i feel lost, helpless and destroyed but really want to spend time with our daughter. Can someone please help?

Until and unless you hire a lawyer and challenge the order it remains in effect. (That means forever). Calling the police is frankly foolish - when you have a legal problem you call a lawyer and the police cannot help.

Buried in your post is your ticking time bomb. If you are not paying support that can be a problem - a big one. Do odd jobs and whatever you have to do to get your arrearage down before suing to modify the order. It will help.
