Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

How to Not Lose Custody of Wedlock Child

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant. My child will be born out of wedlock. Unfortunately, there are 2 possibilities for the child's father. One is very supportive regardless of the outcome and the other wants nothing to do with the child, but would be willing to make things difficult for me for the sake of doing so.

I do not want to lose custody of my child. Do I allow the supportive one to give the child his last name? Do I need to wait and take a paternity test 1st? Can I still get child support from the non-supportive one regardless of who's name is on the birth certificate?

If the non-supportive one IS indeed the father, how do I protect my rights? Would it be better to deny a paternity test for him and use the other's results? Go ahead and give him a test as well? He says he wants nothing to do with the baby, but is he still responsible for paying child support regardless? I want to make sure he can't get custody of my child since the only reason he would want to do so is to get back at me.

Your post is asking lawyers if it is okay to falsify and lie on documents and otherwise to conceal information about parentage. I need to advise you not to consider such a course of action. No lawyer can assist you in such conduct.
