my ex makes me pay child support when im not court ordered to is that legal?

Under Georgia law, if you go 30 days without paying support, regardless of a court order, you are guilty of criminal abandonment. Depending on whether you stay in Georgia or cross state lines, the crime can be a misdemeanor or a felony.

Your basic choices are the support your child or go to jail when you violate the criminal statute.

How does your ex "make" you pay child support without a court order?

If you believe that you are paying too much, you should open a child support matter and formalize your child support obligation. If you didn't pay chld support voluntarily, you would have to pay back child support anyway. No matter what, you should keep a record of your payments.
