Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Marital Home?

I have been married for 20+ years and have 2 kids. The home we have 2 kids. The home that we live in actually belongs to my parents. They moved away and I aquired the home and have been maintaining it. It still legally belongs to my parents. If we divorce - how will I be expected to compensate my wife. She has lived there all these years, but has made minimal $ contributions to the home and she cannot ''get'' the home since it belongs to my parents.

Re: Marital Home?

There is no way to answer your question from the limited information. Cases are not decided on one issue. Your respective incomes, assets, debts, needs and ages of the children, conduct of the parties and county of residence are some of the many factors I'd need to explore in depth. If you are planning to divorce and atre in metro Atlanta, contact my office for an appointment. You'll find contact information for me, and a worksheet for information, at www.glenashman.com .
