Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Marital Question

My boyfriend and I are getting married in Georgia, in August. He is 18 and I will be turning 16 a couple weeks before we plan on marrying. We live in Tennessee right now, we will be going to Georgia since the minimum age to be married is 16. My question: Can we go to Georgia to be married, and if so is there anything my parents or his can do to keep us from seeing each other once we are married?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Marital Question

Though you can be married at age 16 in Georgia, you may have a problem doing so since you are not residents.

Despite the law, my advice to the two of you is to wait a few more years to get married anyway. I handle a lot of divorce cases and the number one problem down the raod is that both of you have a lot of wild oats to be sown.

Marriage is alot of work and commitment. You are only young once and you might as well enjoy it while you can.

It is not legal advice, but it is just plain advice. Take it for what it is worth.
