Marriage at 17
Umm Hello umm I'm so lost hehe umm I am 17 years old and my parents say that it's ok for me to get married right now since I am from Bosnia and marriage at 16 and 17 is very common but my boyfriend is Mexican and I am pregnant with his child my mother wants for me to get an abortion and she said I have no choice that I have to stay with her and get an abortion but that's something I'd never do I want to marry him and when I went to my doctor at Suwanee Pediatrics yesterday and brought her the paper to fill out that I'm pregnant so that I can get married she raised her voice at me, told me she's busy and to come back on Friday I feel like no one wants for me to get married when it's really MY business and my life.... what should I do? What if my doctor and excuse me for saying this but is too lazy to fill out that paper? Can I just go and live with him this would be my 3rd time running away what can happen to me ? What should I do ? I want to marry him really badly. Wouldn't it be illegal for physician, the one who gave me the pregnancy test to not fill out that paper when she told me she would I'm just very scared..Thank you very much for taking the time to read my question

Normally, you would need parental consent to get married under age 18. But this does not apply to either of you if you are pregnant. If you can show proof of pregnancy, you both can get married at any age without parental consent. See this website for the relevant Georgia laws on this question: http://www.uslegalforms.com/lawdigest/marriagelaws.php/GA/GA-088M-FF.htm. Nor can your mother FORCE you to get an abortion. That is strictly your decision under Roe v. Wade (famous Supreme Court decision). In fact, unless you are married, Georgia will not allow you to get an abortion if you are under 18 unless your parents are first notified. You do need proof of pregnancy to get married without parental consent at your age. If you both definitely want to get married and this doctor won't cooperate, I would suggest getting another. You might also call the local magistrate or probate court to see what they will accept as proof of pregnancy. Good luck.
