Am I Really Married?

In May 2003, I left my first husband and we filed papers for a no fault divorce. In August 2004, I got married again. Just under a year after I married my second husband, I found out that due to the final papers not being filed within the time limit allowed, I was never legally divorced from my first husband. We immediately went through the process of the divorce again once we found out that we were still married. My question is now that I am legally divorced from my first husband is my second marriage legal? Are we required to get remarried to make the marriage legal or if we were to split up, would we have to get a divorce? I've been getting a lot of conflicting information.

If all this happened in georgia, your new marriage was not legal. You need to do it again.
