Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Married 22 years and contemplating divorce.Several years ago I caught him having an affair with someone that he works with.Openly admitted it at the time he got caught but now says it didnt happen.Reason being now that my gynecologist has confirmed that I have contracted an STD.I have never cheated on my husband and now he is saying that I got it from someone. Will a judge take this into consideration when awarding temporary alimony and a divorce? What steps do I need to take to clear my good name and prove that it was him that gave it to me?The STD That I have is not curable,I feel like I have been violated!!!

Since a divorce can be awarded without fault and since you condoned the affair by staying with him, that affair may not be relevant to a divorce. Technically, it is not central to the issue of alimony either, but the fact you may incur medical bills over time as a result does affect alimony.

Having said that, sometimes conduct, while it isn't the legal standard to decide a case, still subtly affects the outcome.

In any event, you need a lawyer.

I doubt you will get a very satisfactory answer in this type of forum. You need to sit down and spend some time reviewing the facts of your case with a local attorney.
