Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Not Married but Have a 10 Yr Old Together
I decided to call it quits after 10 years with my fiance. He is emotionally abusive and can be destructive. He is like Jekyll and Hyde - one minute he tells me i can stay in the house w/ our son the next he wants me out. The story today is i can stay in the house (til it forecloses in 3 months)but he won't pay any bills (which he knows i can't pay) and he's going to cancel my cell phone & my car insurance (thats paid up til 3/09) and he will move out. Should i stay - Can he make me leave? I carried cell service for both of us for 2 years and he wanted to switch providers and said he would pay the cancellation fees - which he now says he won't. I really don't have any where to go and I want to stay in the house as long as possible cause I don't want to upset my son and his schedule anymore than neccessary - he is my #1 priority. My name is on the house and on his truck thats not paid for. My car was paid in full earlier this year using money he received from a car accident. - I was the main person on my car loan & the tag is in my name - he has taken the title to my car and hid it somewhere. Is the car really mine? What can i do about all of these issues? I need some answers B4 this weekend. HELP.

If you are unmarried then generally you have no right to his property nor he to yours. You do have a right to child support, which you should seek immediately. If he hid the title showing that the car was in your name, then go and get a replacement title. The phones belong to the person who is on the contract. If your name is on the title to the house he cannot make you leave unless you are abusive.
