Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

If I marry, am I responsible for new husband's back child support?

My boyfriend is divorced with 3 children. His divorce agreement is witten such that he cannot completely meet his child support and alimony obligations each month. He does support them sufficiently though. If I marry him, can I be legally liable for his back child support and alimony? Can his ex-wife sue for more child support and alimony because his household income has increased b/c of marriage?

You cannot be held liable for his back child support and alimony. Yes, she can try to get more c.s. and al. She can also file for contempt for the arrearage. Maybe your boyfriend and you should consult with a local attorney who can evaluate all of the facts with an eye toward HIS filing to REDUCE his obligation.
