Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Does it matter where a divorce takes place
me and my husband were married in Georgia but we live in Virginia. He is military but we have decided to separate and I have decided to move back to Georgia. We will go through a period of separation for a year and then divorce but we don't know if it matters what state we should file for the divorce.

Every state has its own residency requirements. You would need to ask a Virginia lawyer as to theirs. In Georgia, at least one party must have been a legal resident for six months.
