Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Does it matter where a divorce takes place

me and my husband were married in Georgia but we live in Virginia. He is military but we have decided to separate and I have decided to move back to Georgia. We will go through a period of separation for a year and then divorce but we don't know if it matters what state we should file for the divorce.
