Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Moms kicks kids out

Is it legal in the state of Georgia to buy a home for your minor children and move them into it? My husband's ex did not want the kids living with her anymore (but still wants the child support) so she bought them a house away from her.

There is nothing illegal about it, but I think a judge would not look kindly on her doing this. Consult with a local attorney who handles divorce cases.

Buying the house is not illegal; however, she may not be properly supervising the children.

My question is, who is supervising the minor children? Your husband may want to file a petition to change custody. If the children are not residing with their mother, whom I assume has custody, then your husband could petition to have the children reside with him. Child support would be terminated and the mother would pay child support to the father. In fact, if the children are not being properly cared for and your husband has notice, both parents could be responsible should something happen to one of the minor children. I would definitely check into this with a family law attorney.
