If she moved to Illinois less than six months, the best thing to do is to file for legitimation, if you haven't already done so, and visitation/custody.

If she's lived in Illinois more than six months, check with a Illinois attorney to determine your rights. Of course, its worthless to seek the advice of Georgia lawyers to opine properly about Illinois law. Simply repost the question as a Illinois question using the zip code that corresponds with her town/city in Illinois.

You've left out too many things to answer you - and they matter. Were you married? Have you legitimate dthe child if you were not married? How long ago did she move?

If she is your ex-wife, file for custody here in Georgia before six months elapses from her move. After that the case happens in Illinois. You need to get a lawyer.

If she is a girlfriend, then you have no rights unless you legitimize the child. That needs to be done in Georgia before she is gone for six months. Again, get a lawyer.
