Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Moving and Custody
I have sole physical and legal custody of my son. I am looking at reloctaing in GA approximately 80 miles from where I currently live. I saw in a law in GA at one point that if you moved more than 50 miles away you became responsible for all transportation costs. I do not remember if that was if you moved 50 miles outside of GA or 50 miles from your current location? Can someone please tell me or give me a link to the law that I saw.

Re: Moving and Custody
I don't know of any such law; there is a law that says that you have to notify the other person if you move. This allows them the opportunity to file and get the visitation time and costs adjusted or to file for custody, since the child has no choice in the move.
I would notify the other person in writing. If there are transportation costs you can just usually adjust the child support and take less support to make up for the costs.

There is no such law.
The answer as to who pays is usually contained in your divorce papers.
