Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

NCP not making timely medical expense reimbursement

Eighteen months ago, my child came to live with me after he reached the age of decision (14). Since then I have submitted nearly $1000 in medical expenses for braces and occasional doctor visits. It is written in the new order that we each pay half of these expenses. She denies the medical bills saying it's a ''scam'' because I haven't been able to provide cancelled checks or credit card receipts for all of them. I have been able to provide billing statements showing what I have paid to the doctors. Meanwhile on the braces, she has sent two checks for $25 in four months. Can I make her pay in a more timely manner and make her pay the doctor bills based upon the billing statements. I hesitate getting professional help because the cost may indeed be higher than what I would recover.

Re: NCP not making timely medical expense reimbursement

If the final decree requires her to pay 1/2 of the medical or dental expenses, then you may want to file a contempt action against her for nonpayment. I suggest you seek the aid of an attorney to assist you in the preparation of these documents.
