Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I am needing to know I have a divorce decree that states my husband has to pay me a settlement account and it was signed by a judge in 2008 and he has yet to pay anything, would I be able to take that to the court house and they put him in contempt of court, or do I need to get a lawyer and go back to court?

You need to file a new action. It is best to retain counsel as there are always legal issues involved. The good news is that if he is found in willful contempt it is very likely that he would have to pay a portion or all of your attorneys fees. You don't need to wait much longer; the longer you wait the less likely the judge willl be to enforce the order as there are some equitable defenses available to the respondent when petitioners wait a long time to seek relief.
