My Nephew was married to his wife that had a child from another man. for over 6 years they were married until she died suddenly. Now my nephew wants to adopt this child. what can he do?

A detail you didn't give us is whose name is on the birth certificate. Legally the child may be considered his anyway. I need to know a great deal more to answer you such as information on the biological dad.
