Let me stress that you NEED a lawyer. The most disasterous thing you can do is to not get a lawyer.
Until and unless you get custody changed, you owe child support even though the child is with you. Every day you wait more dollars are owed by you.
Also, she can get the child anytime you want.
So you cannot afford to NOT get a lawyer. Even if you have to borrow money or pawn something or work extra odd jobs, get a lawyer. Not doing so is an expensive mistake that you will pay dearly for.
This is an emergency situation. Act soon. Good luck.
If you mean that you can't afford an attorney to go to Court, there are services in Georgia that can help you, if you qualify. Start with your local bar association, for instance, the Atlanta Bar Association. Try Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta. Google "Free Legal Help Georgia" and you will be surprised what you find.
If you cannot find an attorney to help you, consider going to court without one. Often times the courthouse has a person on staff that can provide you the correct forms to fill out and file, although they are careful not to give out legal advice.
Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes and does not create an attorney-client privilege.******
