My mother was divorced in dekalb county georgia and her ex husband has never paid any alimony, it has been about 1 1/2 years since the divorce. The ex huisband lives out of state but does have a job and a bank account. what needs to be done to get a court order on ''back'' alimony? does Georgia have wage deduction orders?

Re: non payment of alimony

She could (a) file a contempt action in Dekalb Co. and have him served whereever he lives or (b) garnish his bank account. She should consult with a local attorney. If a judge were to order a wage deduction, she might as well seek that in conjunction with the contempt proceeding.

Re: non payment of alimony

Your mother should file an action for contempt. Georgia does have income deduction orders. Feel free to contact my office for assistance in this matter.
