Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I am currently overseas in Afghanistan and in the middle of a divorce. I seperated from my wife back in October 2011 when she was in Afghanistan on a contract job making considerably more money than I was. Shortly before we split we took an expensive vacation. She wants half the cost of the trip to be repaid to her. There was no prenuptual agreement between us and no shared assets aside from our personal vehicles. I elected to assume all of our standing debt in the seperation.

Is there any legal footing for her to claim a right to be paid back for expenses incurred while we were together? These are not existing debts to creditors, the trip is done and paid for. The money was spent out of a joint account and there was no tracking of whos paycheck went ot which expenses.

Thank you for any guidance.

You should be discussing this with your lawyer. Everyone in a divorce, and certainly in a contested divorce, needs to have a lawyer. She certainly can ask for what she asked for, and unless you agree, that decision is up to the court. It is completely impossible to defend a divorce from Afghanistan, so if you don't have a lawyer, get one.
