Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
What papers do I file to respond to a petition for legitimation and joint legal and pgysical custody? I received these papers yesterday and there is a court date listed. But it also says I must file a response before 60 days. I have 3 children by my ex-boyfriend. The oldest is not his biological child, but he signed a voluntary acknowledgement of paternity when she was a year old. The middle chld is his for sure. The youngest I am not really sure about. I had an affair around the time she was conceived. He is not on her birthcertificate and we split up before I even knew I was pregnant. I let the older girls see him every other weekend without fail, but the little one does not even know him. My current husband has raised her as his own. My ex is a total loser and I do not feel my kids are safe with him for more than 48 hrs at a time. He has smoked pot daily since he was 14. He has been addicted to meth in the past. He drinks and parties regularly. He has been arrested for drug posession twice and has 5 felonies related to property damage and lying to the police. His current live-in girlfriend has a pill addiction and even lost a baby possibly due to the pills. After we first split he only saw his kids at his convenience and even moved out of state for 3 months without a phone call or letter the whole time. And he has NEVER paid a dime in child support. We had agreed on $100 a week back in 2006, but that never happened. Please help me, I cannot let this jerk have my kids for any length of time.
