Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Parental Rights of Absent Parent Who Never Legitimized Child

My ex and I have a 4 year old son. We were never married before, during, or after pregnancy. I put his name on the birth certificate. He has been out of his son's life for 2 years now. What can I do to ensure that my son's father cannot ever see him again and to get him removed from the birth certificate? I kicked him out of our lives after he had a $300 a week meth habit and took a swing at me.

You can't remove him from the birth certificate. He is the parent, and has a duty to pay support (which you can and should enforce). If he presents a danger to the child, and at some point seeks custody or visitation, his conduct may factor into that determination (without a legitimization, he has no visitation rights).
