Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Parent/child visitation rights

If you are paying child support on time and never been late, abide by your part of the divorce agreement as far as paying half of things and so forth but your 16 year old daughter chooses not to speak to you and will not return your calls or come by and request you not call her again, is there anything legally that you can do? We have joint custody of her. She has had no dealings with us since July 05' and will not tell us why. All we know is she got mad at her grandmother and aunt on her Daddy's side. Her daddy and I married in April 05' and she was happy about the situation and came to the wedding and so forth. She and I have never had any problems. In fact, she suggested her Daddy ask me out and wanted us together. We got her for our normal visitation for the first three months we were married and then she quit coming. What can we do? We would like to go to counseling with her and her mother but they will not communicate with us. We have sent her cards, flowers, presents and called to let her know we are here and would like to know what's going on and no response from her or her mother. We continue to send child support and pay for our half of items when submitted receipts(via mail). What are our legal options in Georgia?

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do. You can file a contempt of court against the mother, while assuiring her that you understand that she is not at fault. This would get the matter before a judge who would probably shake a stern finger at the daughter even though he/she has no authority to order her to "do the right thing". Consult with a local attorney about your local judges attitudes about this.
