what if one party doesnt sighn divorce papers. does it still become valid

Your question indicates that you are attempting a divorce without counsel, which is almost always a catastrophe. So, first of all, get a lawyer (and if you attempted to draft papers or use forms pro se, shred them).

No one has to sign anything in a divorce. If a party will not sign certain papers, you have a contested divorce, meaning that a judge or jury will decide your case, and puts the case through a complex set of steps including discovery, mediation, hearings and trial.
