Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

paternal rights in GA.

In order to prove the paternity of an infant between two unmarried adults, does the father have to fill out any specific forms, even though the infant was born and raised in Fl. for the first 6 months of his life. The said mentioned father was told that it would cost him $2500 in order to legitimize that he's the father.

He is shown as being the father on the Fl. birth certificate.

Re: paternal rights in GA.

The Florida birth certificate provides a presumption of paternity in Massachusetts. Georgia may be different. However, being on the birth certificate ought to provide the right to petition.

In Massachusetts, this would cost at most $0.00 to handle pro se, assuming that no one demanded a DNA swab. The DNA swab would be extra ($500.00 or so), as would an attorney.
